Poly Z.H. Sun received the Ph.D. degree from the Department of Industrial Engineering, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai, China. He is currently a Research Fellow in the Department of Industrial Engineering, School of Mechanical Engineering, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai, China.

He has authored/co-authored over 40 research papers (including 20+ IEEE Trans. papers) in top-tier refereed international journals and conferences, such as IEEE TITS, IEEE TIV, IEEE TEM, IEEE TII, IEEE TCSS, IEEE TETCI, IEEE TASE, IEEE TCDS, IEEE TCBB, IEEE JBHI, Engineering, The Innovation (Cell Press). His current research interests include human-computer interaction, intelligent transportation systems, human factors in driving, neuroergonomics, brain and cognitive status under maneuvers, physiological parameter measurement, bio-inspired vision mechanism, operations research, and their applications in human-in-the-loop transportation systems.

He is a member of the IEEE ITSS, IEEE CIS, IEEE SMCS, and ACM SIGCHI. He also has been serving as an Associate Chair of ACM AutomotiveUI, ACM CSCW, a reviewer for several top-tier international journals such as IEEE TEM, IEEE TITS, IEEE TCSS, IEEE TCDS, IEEE TIV, IEEE TII, IEEE/ASME TMECH, IEEE SMCA, and a session chair for several conferences such as 25th IEEE ITSC, IEEM 2021, 15th ICIRA.

In addition, he participated in the standardization of Industrial Internet Identification and Resolution. The standard he participated in is promoting the development of manufacturing networking in China.

Since 2021, his research has shifted from Evolutionary Algorithms-based Operational Research to Human-in-the-Loop Mobility-as-a-Service (HL-MaaS):

• Human-in-the-Loop Intelligent Vehicles: (1) Measurement of cognitive state and physiological parameters (eye movement, EEG, EMG, ECG, and respiration) during driving tasks; (2) Human factors and ergonomics under driving tasks (driving fatigue, driving comfort, driving competency); (3) Biology and human factors inspired intelligent vehicle driving safety assurance (collision detection, driving assistance system design); (4) Human-machine co-driving and human-computer interaction.
• Human-in-the-Loop Intelligent Transportation Systems: (1) Human-oriented participatory traffic control (flow-regulated travel resource distribution); (2) Mechanism design of socialized crowdsourcing intelligent transportation platform (order distribution mechanism, incentive mechanism);(3) Operation, service, and management for human-centered intelligent transportation system and platform (shared travel, multimodal transport).
