Special Issue on Hybrid Brain-Computer Collaborative Intelligent System

IEEE Transactions on Cognitive and Developmental Systems

Open from Now to 30 Nov 2021 for submissions

Aim and Scope:

Brain-computer fusion is regarded as one of the most important technologies with huge potentials in the 21st century, and the research covers a wide spectrum of disciplines, such as cognitive science, information science and artificial intelligence. The fusion and even integration of biological intelligence (brain) and machine intelligence (machine), which perfectly combines the perceptual and cognitive ability of the human with the computing power of the machine, is expected to produce a powerful intelligence form -- hybrid intelligence, which is expected to be far beyond the reach of current biological or machine intelligence systems.

Achieving brain-computer fusion intelligence, however, requires breakthroughs in natural human-computer interaction technology, which focuses on the improvement of the user's operation ability under complex tasks. This requires the acquisition of human operator’s cognitive characteristics such as emotion, motivation and ability, and the building of a cognitive interaction model that can actively adapt to its perception (vision, hearing, touch) and behavior (speech, hand, foot, head, eyes, and physiology) channels, so as to improve the operator's behavioral ability to handle complex tasks. It can be seen that the hybrid brain-computer collaborative intelligence system continuously improves the interaction level between operator and machine intelligence from operation interaction, knowledge interaction to cognitive interaction.
